Relocation changes

The relocation process provides an enhanced experience for new employees and hiring managers. The updates are reflected in the steps outlined on this web page and in the policy, with key highlights that include:

  • Employees now submit reimbursement requests in Workday.
  • Exceptions to the Relocation Policy are requested in Workday.
  • Better tracking of employees’ repayment obligations if they terminate employment prior to their contract.
  • Direct bill requisitions are entered by the relocation team instead of departments.

As you join Ohio State, we are grateful that you are choosing to relocate to be part of our community that is advancing excellence and inspiring others. The team of Human Resources relocation consultants will partner directly with our new employees and managers to understand each situation and moving needs.

The HR relocation team is a seasoned group of experts dedicated to ensuring a seamless transition to Ohio State, supporting you in a thoughtful, thorough and sustainable way. Ohio State provides payment or reimbursement of eligible relocation expenses for certain positions. Relocation assistance for eligible employees is determined by the college or unit in alignment with the Relocation Policy, 2.30.

Conditions of relocation payment or reimbursement are outlined in the offer letter for new employees. The Human Resources relocation team will support employees with their relocation needs, and the process is integrated into Workday.
