FLSA Payroll Advance

Ohio State is committed to implementing revised FLSA regulations in a way that complies with the regulations and supports the university community. A one-time pay advance was available to help bridge a potential pay gap as affected employees move from monthly to biweekly pay.

You received a final monthly paycheck on October 31, 2016. It covered October 1-29, 2016, so it was slightly smaller than a full month of pay. You will receive your first biweekly paycheck on November 25, 2016.

For biweekly pay, there is a two-week lag between hours worked and receipt of pay. This is to allow for review and processing of hours worked. Your November 25 paycheck will cover work hours from October 30 through November 12.

The university offered you a one-time pay advance with your November 25 paycheck to help bridge the gap from monthly to biweekly pay. View an example of how the gap might impact your pay.

The opt-in deadline was October 29, 2016, for participating in the pay advance.

Those who opted in will repay the advance over six months through deductions from 13 biweekly paychecks. The university will not charge interest or other fees related to this advance.

The Payroll Advance will be added to your first biweekly pay dated November 25, 2016.

If you are eligible, you will receive an email with a link to the Payroll Advance document.

The advance will not be taxed, and the university is providing this offer at no cost to affected employees. Interest and charges will not apply if you pay back the advance on time.
