Form I-9 & E-Verify
The Office of Human Resources (OHR) coordinates employment eligibility verification for university employees. Federal law requires employers to verify the employment eligibility and identity of all employees hired to work in the United States. To meet these requirements, Ohio State uses two tools to confirm employment eligibility of newly hired faculty and staff: Form I-9, the I-9 Database and E-Verify®.
Labor Relations
Employee and Labor Relations Senior Representatives collaborate with human resource professionals to administer and interpret various collective bargaining agreements to ensure integration and consistency across the university, facilitate problem resolution to mitigate risk and work to enhance labor and management relationships.
Background Check Services
The Office of Human Resources offers various types of background checks depending on your position and role within the university. Background check services are only provided for official university business. The Office of Human Resources is available for consultation regarding both the policy and program processes.
Compensation
The Office of Human Resources’ Compensation team provides consultation services regarding interpretation and use of market data, planning for use of budgeted dollars, compensation program design and assistance with salary/equity studies.
Employee and Labor Relations
The Employee and Labor Relations (ELR) team serves as a trusted partner to faculty, staff and human resource professionals regarding questions, conflicts and issues that arise in the workplace. The ELR team leads these services and strategies for the Ohio State community and Wexner Medical Center.
Distinguished Staff Awards
The Distinguished Staff Award annually honors staff members for their outstanding achievements, service, leadership and dedication to Ohio State, as well as their demonstration of the university’s shared values. The Distinguished Staff Award is the highest honor bestowed upon staff at the university since its inception in 1984.
Faculty and Staff Retirement Recognition
Each year, faculty and staff with more than 20 years of service at Ohio State who retired in the prior fiscal year are honored for their dedication and contributions to the university.
Faculty and Staff Service Recognition
Faculty and staff who have reached a service milestone of 25, 30, 35, 40, 45, 50 and 55 years at Ohio State are recognized annually at a special event.
Faculty and Staff Appreciation Week
Faculty and Staff Appreciation Week is an annual celebration of Ohio State faculty and staff to recognize their contributions to the university.
