Vacation and Sick Time Accrual

In Workday, all eligible Ohio State employees accrue vacation and sick time biweekly. Accrual rates for all position classifications are all based on 100% FTE so your individual amount will be prorated based on FTE.

FLSA Changing to Non-Exempt

Ohio State employees who change from being an exempt to a non-exempt employee are eligible for overtime pay if they work more than 40 hours in a week.

Health Reimbursement Account (HRA)

Ohio State offers a Health Reimbursement Account (HRA) to employees who are enrolled in The Ohio State University Faculty and Staff Health Plan. An HRA is an employer-funded account from which you can be reimbursed, tax-free for eligible health care expenses.

Open Enrollment for ACA-Eligible Employees

If you are eligible for Ohio State medical coverage under the Affordable Care Act (ACA), you can participate in Open Enrollment for medical coverage. This is your opportunity to review your benefit options and elect or change coverage.

Benefits Open Enrollment for Graduate Associates

Open Enrollment is held annually for Graduate Associates who select the Faculty and Staff Health Plan. This coverage will be effective January 1 the following year and you must be eligible as of that date. This coverage is for medical and prescription drug only. It does not include dental or vision benefits.

At Ohio State, we understand how important it is to be supportive of our faculty and staff, and we are committed to providing support throughout the pregnancy and breastfeeding journey. Providing lactation accommodations aligns with Ohio State’s philosophy to support faculty and staff balance school, work and their personal lives. In addition to lactation accommodations around Ohio State’s campuses and locations, Ohio State offers a free program through our health plan for expectant parents, paid parental leave and comprehensive benefits packages.

President Walter “Ted” Carter Jr. has named Katie Hall as senior vice president of talent, culture and human resources, pending approval by the Board of Trustees. Hall has served as the interim senior vice president since last spring and has been with Ohio State for 24 years.
