Reemployment of Faculty and Staff, Policy 4.25
The university sets requirements for the reemployment of faculty and staff who have retired from the university, received a separation incentive/phased retirement from the university or when terminated in specific situations. Reemployment after retirement or separation is not an entitlement.
First Advantage Background Check
If you are a final candidate for a position or university employee, you may be required to have a background check, per policy 4.15. The university’s exclusive third party vendor is First Advantage, and you can complete it online through a link that will be sent to you directly from First Advantage.
Fingerprinting BCI/FBI Background Check
Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation (BCI) and/or the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) fingerprinting background check services are conducted by appointment only at the Ohio State Office of Human Resources. Fingerprinting services are available for university employment purposes, when applicable, and participants in university programs that require a BCI/FBI background check, including but not limited to Education, Nursing, Speech and Hearing, Psychology, Social Work, Work Study, Child Care and activities/programs with minor participants.
Performance Improvement and Corrective Action
The primary goal of corrective action is to facilitate performance and behavior improvement, rather than to serve as a punitive action. When applied appropriately, corrective action sets clear standards for employees and warns of consequences for noncompliance.

Vacation and Sick Time Accrual
In Workday, all eligible Ohio State employees accrue vacation and sick time biweekly. Accrual rates for all position classifications are all based on 100% FTE so your individual amount will be prorated based on FTE.
