Paid Leave Programs
Ohio State recognizes the importance of supporting faculty and staff as you balance career, personal and family life. As part of our total rewards package, the university provides paid and unpaid leaves to support employees. All paid leave offerings, eligibility and accrual is outlined in the Paid Leave Programs Policy.

To provide greater equity amongst Ohio State faculty and staff, the Paid Leave Programs policy has been revised on an interim basis, including changes to parental leave eligibility and vacation accrual for post-doctoral researchers and associated faculty.

Ohio State is instituting an annual Academic Winter Recess from December 26–31 each year starting in 2025, as announced by President Walter “Ted” Carter Jr. during the State of the University address on Wednesday, Sept. 17. Specific dates for the 2025 Academic Winter Recess are Dec. 26 and Dec. 29-31.
