Living by the adage “service is the rent we pay to live on the earth” and a passion to teach others to do the same, Department of Sociology Professor Hollie Nyseth Brehm educates students about different cultures and societal phenomena and shows them how to use their education to change the world.
As 4-H Camp Palmer executive director, Bill Goodson motivates youth to get active and healthy, and he uses Ohio State’s employee wellness program, Your Plan for Health, to motivate himself to stay well.
Zia Ahmed’s childhood experiences, passion to help students and true love for being a Buckeye have led to what he calls his “dream job” creating an exceptional, sustainable and student-centric experience as Ohio State’s dining services senior director.

This same time last year I was at a place in my life where I didn't even think it was possible to lose weight. I had convinced myself that diets did not work for me, surgery wasn't an option financially, and the 10-15 pounds lost from exercises would eventually just find me again! Then I had a friend approach me about joining her wellness group.
Ten faculty members received the 2019 Alumni Award for Distinguished Teaching for their teaching excellence. Congratulations to our outstanding faculty recipients.
Six Ohio State lecturers were recognized with the 2019 Provost’s Award for Distinguished Teaching by a Lecturer for their passion for teaching, innovative classroom engagement and extraordinary effort in helping students succeed.
Congratulations to the three Ohio State women recognized as Glass Breakers. They’ve been awarded for paving the way with their career successes and paying it forward by encouraging women’s leadership in faculty and administrative positions.
The Distinguished Staff Awards, the university’s highest staff recognition, annually honors 12 staff members for their exceptional leadership, accomplishments and service to The Ohio State University.
In recognition of contributions to enhance diversity and inclusion, five honorees received the Ohio State Distinguished Diversity Enhancement Award.

When Lindsay Bond began her career at Ohio State, she had one goal in mind “change the world one kid at a time.” That passion and ambition led her to make an impact at Ohio State and become a recognized leader in her field.
As part of the HR business transformation, multiple Human Resources policies have been revised and will go into effect on December 20, 2020, and January 3, 2021, in alignment with the implementation of Workday. The policies have been revised to improve employee experience, better align business practices and support Enterprise Project activities.
Ohio State is extending several benefits deadlines and expanding program options to help support employees during the COVID-19 pandemic. These changes are intended to make it easier for employees to manage their health and wellness needs during this challenging time.

New tools including a calculator on the leave options page can help estimate how much accrued leave can be used in combination with emergency leave offered through the Families First Coronavirus Response Act. Other new resources include: a step-by-step flow chart, guidance for supervisors and FAQs about expanded vacation donation and accrual.

In celebration, there are several virtual events and activities as well as discounts available for Ohio State faculty and staff. You can also show appreciation for your colleagues with personalized messages and virtual cards available to send from the Kindness at Ohio State website.
Ohio State's Flexible Spending Account (FSA) and Health Reimbursement Account (HRA) vendor will transition to a new participant portal. To accurately convert account information to the new system, there will be a claims blackout period from July 22-August 2, 2020.
Dependent tuition assistance applications must be submitted each term. The enrollment window for autumn semester 2020 opened Monday, July 6 and closes Friday, August 28. Faculty and staff can apply online or with a paper application. The student must have a social security number on file with Buckeye Link to receive dependent tuition assistance.

Congratulations to this year’s Distinguished Diversity Enhancement Award recipients recognized during Ohio State’s Sesquicentennial - a time to commemorate the institution, honor our heritage and applaud the collective efforts of those who have built the university’s legacy and its future.
