New enrollment requirements for tuition assistance begin summer semester

Applications will be required each applicable semester to receive faculty and staff tuition assistance and dependent tuition assistance. The enrollment window for summer semester 2021 is March 22-May 14, 2021.

Deadline extended for spring semester dependent tuition assistance

The university is extending the deadline for eligible employees to apply for dependent tuition assistance for spring semester 2021 to 11:59 p.m. March 5, 2021. This one-time extension for the spring 2021 semester only is in response to potential challenges with completing enrollment due to the recent transition from PeopleSoft to Workday.

Eligible faculty and staff can go to Workday to apply online or with paper applications. The student must have a Social Security number on file with Buckeye Link to receive dependent tuition assistance.

Benefits actions during Employee Self Service downtime

The shutdown of Peoplesoft in advance of the Workday launch will affect access to certain benefits actions in Employee Self Service (ESS). While these dates are being communicated in other channels, here is a brief list.

Benefits Confirmation Statements now available online

Faculty and staff eligible for Ohio State benefits can review their 2021 Benefits Confirmation Statement online through December 4, 2020. Employees will also receive a copy of the 2021 Benefits Confirmation Statement at their home addresses. It is very important that employees review their 2021 benefits elections and verify that all are accurate.

Enrollment open for spring term dependent tuition assistance

Dependent tuition assistance applications must be submitted each term. The enrollment window for spring semester 2021 is open Monday, November 23, 2020 through Friday, January 15, 2021.

PHA deadline change. To receive premium credit, complete by December 14, 2020

To reduce your cost for health care and receive the full premium credit for 2021, complete a Personal Health and Well-Being Assessment (PHA) by Monday, Dec. 14, at 11:59 p.m. The PHA will not be available for completion starting December 15 to prepare for the transition from PeopleSoft to Workday. The PHA should be available again in early January.

UPDATE: Changes to tuition assistance benefits

In follow-up to recent communications about changes to tuition assistance benefits, the timeline for changes has been updated. As a result, no changes will be implemented for spring semester 2021. Please review the updates and revised timeline.

Enhancements to university retirement plans

Enhancements to university-sponsored retirement plans will take effect in January 2021. These enhancements apply to the Alternative Retirement Plan (ARP), supplemental plans and executive plan.

Applications for the Staff Career Development Grants will be accepted from March 1 until March 31, 2021. Eligible staff can apply for $1,250-$2,000 for professional development opportunities occurring between May 2021 through September 2021.
