The Distinguished Staff Award, the university’s highest honor for staff, recognizes staff members who have made an impact at The Ohio State University. The annual award honors 12 outstanding staff members for their exceptional leadership, accomplishments, dedication and service to the university.

The Staff Career Development Grant provides staff an opportunity to further their growth and development. Eligible staff can apply for up to $1,250 for individuals, $1,750 for groups of 2-10 and $2,000 for groups of 11 or more towards professional development, education or training costs related to job and/or career goals.

For the fifth year in a row, The Ohio State University has been named the (614) Magazine ColumBEST Top Employer. Additionally, the Ohio State Wexner Medical Center was awarded “Best Hospital” and the Veterinary Medical Center won “Best Veterinarian/Animal Hospital.”

Distinguished Diversity Enhancement Awards celebrate and recognize exceptional faculty, staff and students
In recognition of their exceptional diversity and inclusion work, five honorees have received the Ohio State Distinguished Diversity Enhancement Award.
Human Resources has outlined time and attendance guidance for university employees. The guidance provides expectations for documenting: time worked, meal periods, paid breaks, start times and tardiness, unplanned absences, approving time worked and accountability.
Following the pause for Workday implementation, Career Roadmap is resuming activity with a new launch date in early 2022. When launched, Ohio State’s Career Roadmap will be a new approach for hiring, compensating and developing staff.
In the past year, the number of fraudulent unemployment claims filed in the United States has dramatically increased. This is not an issue that is unique to the state of Ohio. However, Ohio State employees need to be aware of the threat and know how to access the resources available.
These Human Resources policies have been revised: Reduction in Force Classified Staff, Reduction in Force Unclassified Staff, Staff Severance, Staff Employment, Student Employment, Background Check, Military Leave/Reemployment Rights, Paid Time Off, Staff Recruitment and Selection, and Unpaid Leave.
Upcoming system upgrades and policy revisions will impact the timing of new and revised elections to Supplemental Retirement Accounts (SRA) as of January 4, 2021.
