Key features of the policy are:
- Academic Winter Recess occurs during a designated period between Dec. 26 and Dec. 31 each year. Specific dates are determined annually by the university based on the calendar year and are listed in the calendar in Academic Winter Recess Policy, 6.21.
- Most academic campus faculty and staff can use the winter recess as dedicated time away during a period of reduced campus operations for rest, renewal and overall well-being.
- As this is not a full university closure, the policy addresses management of critical university services and necessary college and unit operations. Employees who work during the recess will receive equivalent time off hours for future use.
- Because many health care services continue uninterrupted during the recess period, the policy does not apply to employees in the Wexner Medical Center.
