Now more quickly hire and rehire graduate and lecturer roles

Enhancement are being made to the Workday hiring process to more easily and quickly hire and rehire specific campus graduate and lecturer positions, reducing the amount of work required to keep current talent who are already associated with the university.

Before you or anyone on your team creates job requisitions for Spring 2025 graduate appointments or re-hiring of semester lecturers, work with your HR consultant to determine if that position meets the requirements below and to determine next steps for processing.

Graduate appointments that are connected to their enrollment or course-of-study as a student, can be placed into a role independent from the job requisition process and them having to apply. If it is not connected or if there is any type of selection process outside of their admittance to Ohio State and their program, they will need to go through the full recruit-to-hire process.

  • Will or did not go through a competitive search process
  • Are appointed within the following job profiles:
    • Graduate Teaching Associate
    • Graduate Research Associate
    • Graduate Admin Associate
    • Graduate Fellow

Returning Semester lecturers who are terminated during their non-working periods and are returning to the position they left within the last 17 months. It includes lecturers who:

  • Are in a Lecturer SEM or Sr. Lecturer SEM job profile
  • Are returning to their prior position number
  • Have a break in service 17 months or less
  • Do not have any FTE changes that change the time type (i.e. 10 to 20 hours or 35 to 40)
  • Are moving from Temporary to Regular

In Spring 2025, the Workday Add and Change job processes will also be available. More details will be shared prior to the changes being implemented.
