Expanded Family Care Benefits Webinar

Join The Women’s Place, Office of Human Resources and Bright Horizons for a webinar about Ohio State’s new and expanded family care benefits. These new benefits offer eligible employees additional support for managing work, life and family responsibilities. All faculty and staff are welcome to attend this informational session.

Each one-hour webinar will cover the new and expanded 2023 family care benefits, including back-up care, primary care, pet care, tutoring, summer camps, caregiver respite, long-distance needs and other Bright Horizons offerings.

For Wexner Medical Center employees:

Bright Horizons is a provider of high-quality early education and child care, back-up care, and workplace education services. Ohio State has partnered with Bright Horizons to offer the following benefits:

  • Back-Up Care™: Access a network of high-quality care centers and in-home care providers for temporary care when you have a disruption in your regular care. Ohio State substantially offsets your cost through a subsidy program. Employees have a copay that can be reimbursed through the Lifestyle Spending Account (LSA) up to benefit limits.
  • Family Concierge™: Time-saving, personalized guidance with a customized plan for new, ongoing and emergency child, adult and elder care.
  • Enhanced Family Supports™: Discounts for primary child care, academic support, tutoring services, enrichment programs and elder care.

These benefits are available to eligible Ohio State employees (full-time and part-time (at least 50% FTE) in a regular or term position. Please note: The Ohio State subsidy of back-up care is taxable if used.

Supplemental retirement enrollment calendars to change April 1

In addition to the mandatory retirement plans, Ohio State offers supplemental savings options to help faculty and staff plan for retirement. Most Ohio State employees are eligible to participate in the 403(b) and 457(b) Supplemental Retirement Accounts (SRA). Due to changes in federal law, Ohio State’s enrollment rules for 457(b) plans will align with those of the 403(b)

Ohio State has expanded its partnership with Bright Horizons, when you register and complete a back-up care profile in your Bright Horizons portal by April 1, you will be entered to win a $50 gift card from select retailers.*

Weather-related resources and closing reminders

It is important to be aware of the university’s weather-related resources and policy, know your disaster designation and learn how to check the university’s status. Although Ohio State strives to remain open, faculty and staff can be prepared by reviewing this policy and taking note of the resources.

Ohio State is committed to protecting all faculty, staff, students and volunteers who report suspected or actual wrongful conduct. The Whistleblower Policy 1.40 outlines additional details about retaliation and a protected disclosure.

First Quarter Deadline for Lifestyle Spending Account Claims

Ohio State’s Lifestyle Spending Account (LSA) reimburses employees up to $125 quarterly for eligible expenses related to health, fitness, family, emotional and social wellness. The first quarter ends March 31. Employees have until April 15 to submit a claim for eligible expenses incurred January 1 – March 31. Unused LSA funds do not carry over.

Enrollment Window Opens for Summer Semester

Applications for tuition assistance benefits must be submitted each term, and the enrollment window for summer semester 2023 is March 20-May 12, 2023.

Policy Reminder: Nepotism

The Nepotism Policy 1.25 emphasizes that selection of personnel be based on job-related qualifications. Individuals must notify their supervisor if any family member applies for a position for which they will be responsible or may influence the employment actions.
