Open Enrollment is the annual opportunity for you to evaluate your benefit options and make elections for the upcoming year.
Open Enrollment for the 2023 benefit plan year is November 1-15, 2022.
We strongly encourage you to visit the Open Enrollment website to learn about 2023 benefits, check benefits eligibility and select options that best fit your needs for the coming year.
Three new 2023 benefits include:
- Lifestyle Spending Accounts (LSA) – Funded by the university, this personalized benefit provides employees flexibility to pay for a variety of eligible expenses that support overall well-being. A quarterly contribution of $125 will be allocated to eligible employees on January 1, April 1, July 1 and October 1 to be used during that quarter.
- Surrogacy assistance – In combination with the university’s adoption benefit, surrogacy assistance in 2023 will allow up to $10,000 of reimbursement per lifetime, per employee/family.
- Caregiving back-up support – In early 2023, the university will introduce details about subsidized child and adult back-up care.
In addition to these new benefits, Ohio State is enhancing existing fertility coverage. The changes to both medical services and the pharmacy benefit will provide more inclusive coverage acknowledging diverse family structures and multiple paths to parenthood.
After maintaining medical plan deductibles and out-of-pocket maximums amounts the same since 2018, the incremental increases in 2023 keep pace with the continuing rise in health care costs. To help offset the increase in out-of-pocket costs, employees will have the ability to earn greater Health Reimbursement are available in 2023 for both employees and spouses enrolled in a medical plan.
