Career Roadmap Implementation Dates and Employee Review Progress

Launching this fall, Ohio State’s Career Roadmap will deliver a new approach for consistently hiring, managing and developing staff. The scope of Career Roadmap includes 26,000 staff positions across the medical center, main campus and regional campuses.

When Career Roadmap is implemented, new job profiles and salary ranges will be shown in Workday, and all in-scope staff will see a Career Roadmap function, subfunction, band and level in their Workday profile.

Because we have two pay frequencies – monthly and biweekly – there will be two implementation dates:

  • November 1, 2022, for staff paid monthly.
  • November 6, 2022, for staff paid biweekly and staff who will change pay frequency as a result of Career Roadmap.

For employees who will change from monthly to biweekly pay, the transition causes a pay gap due to the two-week lag between actual hours worked and receipt of pay. Those employees will be offered a pay advance to bridge the gap, with a repayment schedule spread out over several pay periods.

Once the employee review period is complete, targeted communications about changing pay frequency and the pay advance will be sent to those impacted.

To support these changes, an updated staff compensation policy will include updates covering position classification, salary administration and additional compensation. The updated policy will be distributed for review to the campus community in the coming weeks.

Employee Review Period Progress

Employee reviews of assigned Career Roadmap job profiles are underway. Approximately 11% of staff disagreed with their assigned job profile and suggested an alternative via the position review form.

The submitted forms were reviewed by managers and HR business partners in their respective colleges and units. HR Compensation will complete all reviews in July. Results of the employee review process will be shared in late July via manager one-on-one conversations, HR business partners and DocuSign notifications. This timeline allows a thorough review for each employee who requested a change.

All in-scope staff will receive a final DocuSign notification of their assigned profile.

A detailed master calendar is available on the Employee Review web page.

If you have questions, you can contact your manager, your area’s HR professional or HRCompensation@osu.edu.
