The university is making a one-time plan amendment to extend the filing deadline for 2021 Health and Dependent Care Flexible Spending Account (FSA) claims.
Individuals with a balance remaining in their 2021 Health or Dependent Care FSA, now have until May 31, 2022, to submit claims with all required documentation for reimbursement.
This extension is part of the plan’s permissible temporary accommodations during the COVID-19 pandemic, as provided under federal law, including the Coronavirus Aid, Relief and Economic Security (CARES) Act, Family First Coronavirus Response Act (FFCRA) and Consolidated Appropriations Act (CAA) and their corresponding regulations and guidance from the Internal Revenue Service (IRS).
There is no change to the claims incurred dates or grace period, which remain January 1, 2021, to March 15, 2022. In addition, this extension does not impact the Health Reimbursement Account affiliated with the employee incentive program Your Plan for Health (YP4H) or its 2021 rollover amounts.
Claims that were not submitted by the original March 31, 2022, FSA deadline must be filed now with TASC, the university’s FSA administrator, in paper or online. Any claims previously denied for lack of sufficient or timely documentation must be re-filed with all appropriate documentation. The TASC Card cannot be used for reimbursement of 2021 FSAs.
Participants can view 2021 health and dependent care FSA balances and/or submit eligible claims with documentation by logging into the TASC website through Workday. Click Benefits then My FSA/HRA.
This one-time administrative deadline extension will apply only to the 2021 FSA plan year. Please review the 2022 FSA plan year important dates and deadlines to ensure that all claims and required documentation are submitted appropriately.
