Using Workday for 2022 Benefits Open Enrollment

Ohio State is proud to offer eligible faculty and staff exceptional total rewards, including the benefit options available during Open Enrollment. This is the annual opportunity to evaluate benefit options and make your elections.

Enrollment for 2022 benefits will take place in Workday. More detailed, step-by-step instructions will be available during Open Enrollment. Below is an overview of the process for making your elections in Workday:

  • Your Workday inbox will include an “Open Enrollment Change” action item when you log into Workday on November 1, 2021. This event will remain in your inbox until you submit 2022 elections or until open enrollment closes on November 15, 2021.
  • Click on the “Open Enrollment Change” item and you will see benefit cards that match your eligibility. Click “Manage” or “Enroll” below the plan you want to elect or change.   • Once you have reviewed or selected your benefits, click “Review and Sign.” If you are ready to submit, scroll to the bottom and select, “I Accept” and click “Submit.” If you do not accept and submit your elections, no updates will be made. You will be able to save and/or print a confirmation summary following submission.

Visit the Open Enrollment website for information on the benefits offered and changes for 2022.

In addition, live webinars and recorded videos about benefit elections are available. Separate webinars about enrolling in Workday are also offered.

Enrollment window opens for spring semester

Applications for tuition assistance benefits must be submitted each term, and the enrollment window for spring semester 2022 is November 23, 2021-January 14, 2022. Eligible faculty and staff can apply in Workday (recommended) or with paper forms for dependent tuition assistance and faculty and staff tuition assistance.

Unused Compensatory Time to be Paid Out Beginning in 2022

Unused compensatory time will be paid out starting in 2022 per the previously revised Scheduling Work and Overtime Compensation Policy 6.10. The policy states that compensatory time must be used within 365 days. The policy requires that any earned compensatory time that is not used within 365 days will be paid out with the next pay period.

Employee Review Period of Career Roadmap

Career Roadmap is a modern compensation and job classification model that will provide transparent career paths and pay ranges for staff. The employee review period is the next step toward implementing this multi-year initiative. It is the opportunity for staff to see where their position is in the framework.

HR Leadership announcement

Open Enrollment ends November 15

Open Enrollment ends Monday, November 15, 2021, at 11:59 p.m. This is the final opportunity to make changes to 2022 benefit elections in Workday for full-time and part-time faculty and staff in regular, term or seasonal positions. Other employees need to use paper or PDF forms to enroll.

Observed university holidays

Ohio State observes 11 holidays per year and provides eligible employees with a holiday benefit as outlined in the Holidays Policy. Please review the policy for employment eligibility and when the holidays are observed.
