There are many opportunities for Ohio State faculty, staff and retirees to support through Bucks for Charity, including education. United Negro College Fund (UNCF) of central Ohio, one of more than 250 participating nonprofits, helps advance education goals for college students, including students at Ohio State like Nathan Harris.
UNCF provides scholarships and financial support to students of color and is one of the nation’s leading advocates for the importance of minority education and community engagement.

Ohio State engineering education student, Nathan Harris, received the UNCF Capstone scholarship allowing him to further his education through a graduate program.
“I have been able to afford opportunities to pursue education on both foreign and domestic lands and pursue opportunities for summer employment,” Nathan said. “Opportunities like these allow me to apply in-classroom knowledge to industry experiences.”
Because of these scholarships, Nathan will continue his studies and pursue a Ph.D. in engineering education at Ohio State.
“I will continue to conduct research that is aimed toward bettering communities that are impacted by the pressures and challenges of the STEM education space,” Nathan said. “The scholarships provided by UNCF grant me freedom, and with that freedom, I refuse to waste my mind.”
