Workplace Violence Awareness online learning module

Ensuring a safe campus for our students, faculty, staff and all members of the university community is a high priority at Ohio State. Part of that effort includes training that teaches violence prevention strategies and how to respond quickly when incidents occur.

As part of a comprehensive prevention and awareness effort to enhance the safety and wellbeing of our community, the university has revised its “Workforce Violence Awareness at Ohio State” module and the 15-minute online course is now available to all students, faculty and staff in BuckeyeLearn.

There is an additional 15-minute online course available for faculty and staff supervisors. The online course follows the university’s Workforce Violence Policy, which applies to the entire Ohio State community, including faculty, staff, students, student employees and graduate associates.

Additional safety resources include:

  • The Employee Assistance Program (EAP) is available through OSU Health Plan. The EAP offers five complimentary counseling sessions, online articles, self-help tools and other resources.
  • Ohio State’s Department of Public Safety produced a video on the Run Hide Fight strategy. The video can be found in BuckeyeLearn and the Department of Public Safety’s website.

Office of Human Resources adjusted hours April 26

The Office of Human Resources will be closed Friday, April 26, from 8 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. for an HR staff meeting. This includes Customer Service, Background Checks and Fingerprinting services. Customer Service will reopen at 12:30 p.m. and background check services will be available 1-4 p.m.

Enrollment open for summer term dependent tuition assistance

The enrollment window for summer semester 2019 is open March 11, 2019, through June 14, 2019. Faculty and staff can apply online or with a paper application. Dependent tuition assistance applications must be submitted each term. The student must have a social security number on file with Buckeye Link.

Complete the sexual misconduct education for faculty and staff

To help identify, disrupt and report sexual misconduct, the online course “Report = Support: Identifying and Responding to Sexual Misconduct” has been assigned to everyone’s BuckeyeLearn transcript. More information is on the Title IX website.

Career Roadmap updates include new timeline and revised framework

Scheduled to launch in 2020, Career Roadmap is a comprehensive job family model and pay structure that will provide visibility to career paths for managers and staff to foster equitable, consistent compensation practices across the university and medical center.

HR Leadership Announcement

Linette (Lin) Hillis will join Ohio State in the role of associate vice president for talent, diversity and leadership, Office of Human Resources. Lin’s first day will be on Monday, October 29, 2018.
