2017/08/01 – Workplace Violence Awareness online learning module - Human Resources at Ohio State

Workplace Violence Awareness online learning module

Ensuring a safe campus for our students, faculty, staff and all members of the university community is a high priority at Ohio State. Part of that effort includes training that teaches violence prevention strategies and how to respond quickly when incidents occur.

As part of a comprehensive prevention and awareness effort to enhance the safety and wellbeing of our community, the university has revised its “Workforce Violence Awareness at Ohio State” module and the 15-minute online course is now available to all students, faculty and staff in BuckeyeLearn.

There is an additional 15-minute online course available for faculty and staff supervisors. The online course follows the university’s Workforce Violence Policy, which applies to the entire Ohio State community, including faculty, staff, students, student employees and graduate associates.

Additional safety resources include:

  • The Employee Assistance Program (EAP) is available through OSU Health Plan. The EAP offers five complimentary counseling sessions, online articles, self-help tools and other resources.
  • Ohio State’s Department of Public Safety produced a video on the Run Hide Fight strategy. The video can be found in BuckeyeLearn and the Department of Public Safety’s website.

The Ohio State University is committed to providing faculty, staff and students with an environment that is safe, secure and free from threats, intimidation and violence.

If you have questions about the course, contact gatewaytolearning@osu.edu.
