Ohio State encourages staff to grow and learn through many resources, including the Staff Career Development Grant. This grant encourages staff to pursue professional development opportunities and continue their learning journey.
The Office of Human Resources, in partnership with USAC, offers the Staff Career Development Grant to award up to $1,000 for individuals and $1,500 for groups toward professional development, education or training costs related to job and/or career goals. Professional development grants are an excellent way for individuals and groups to identify professional development interests and have opportunities to apply for funding.
“The Staff Development Grant allowed me to attend a conference that I otherwise would not have been able to attend,” said one Staff Career Development Grant recipient. “Receiving the grant made me feel like the university really cares about the development of each employee, and that truly motivated me to continue to expand our outreach programs. The conference helped me think outside the box and influx new ideas into an established program.”
Applications for the Staff Career Development Grant can be submitted from July 1, 2017, through July 31, 2017.
Additionally, the Staff Manager Development Grant is available year-round for managers to apply as professional development opportunities become available. This grant gives managers the chance to enhance their management and leadership skills through participation in management workshops, programs or conferences held at Ohio State. Applications can be submitted at any time.
Development comes in many ways, including on-the-job experiences, tasks and problem-solving, feedback, coaching, working with mentors, reading, classes and webinars. The Office of Human Resources offers a variety of resources, programs and tools to support faculty and staff career growth, and help them be their best selves and do their best work.
