Staff member brings Ohio State resources to Lima students

Ohio State faculty and staff make a tangible difference not only in Columbus, but also across the state of Ohio and beyond. Bryan Albright, Director of Enrollment Services for The Ohio State University at Lima, is one of the outstanding staff members doing that each and every day.

Bryan, a 2016 Distinguished Staff Award recipient, has impacted students and colleagues through his leadership in financial aid, admissions and academic advising.

“I really enjoy helping families,” Bryan said. “Ohio State is a great place to work.”

Bryan’s higher education career began as an admissions counselor at Defiance College. He joined Ohio State Lima in 2006. During his interview, Bryan was impressed by a future colleague’s vision for the campus and her passion for student success. Those team qualities, combined with the opportunity to provide students resources for success, motivated him to join the university.

Bryan is also proud of the immense opportunities Ohio State Lima provides the region. “Our students have access to the state’s number one public institution right here in west central Ohio,” he said. “That’s part of the access, affordability and excellence of Ohio State.”

Today, he supervises a team of 14 staff and enjoys doing a variety of activities. “I’ve been here for 10 years and have loved every minute of it,” Bryan said.

Bryan’s goals are focused on getting Ohio State Lima students to graduation. His dedication to student access and success contributes to the campus’s improved retention rates.

One of Bryan’s favorite moments was implementing an innovative academic advising program, called Early Alert, an intervention for students struggling in the classroom. Another career highlight was when he shared the good news of full tuition scholarships with two students.

“It puts a smile on your face,” he said.

Bryan Albright has enjoyed many proud moments at Ohio State and looks forward to continuing to create impactful opportunities for the university.
