More than 80 HR staff spent a few hours on Thursday, March 24, making a meaningful difference in the lives of others in the Central Ohio community by volunteering at local nonprofit organizations during the first-ever HR Community Day of Service.
Staff members volunteered at a diverse group of Columbus nonprofit agencies, many of which focus on helping to address the issue of food security, which is a priority within President Drake’s 2020 Vision.
Volunteering on behalf of Ohio State provided HR employees the opportunity to participate in team building activities with their colleagues while making a positive impact in the local community.
“I think everyone who participated found value in it for themselves and the community, it was a great experience.” said Melanie Colley, assistant to the AVP, Total Rewards, Office of Human Resources.
Volunteers had the choice to participate in activities that ranged from food preparation to landscaping. Below is a sampling of photos from several of the teams who participated.

The Godman Guild volunteers helped with painting, clean-up and administrative projects.

Working with Goodwill Columbus, volunteers organized wheelchair basketball games for adults with disabilities.

At Life Care Alliance, volunteers prepared meals for their Meals on Wheels program.
