Dental Plan – Delta Dental PPO or Delta Dental Premier? - Human Resources at Ohio State

Dental Plan – Delta Dental PPO or Delta Dental Premier?

You could reduce your out-of-pocket dental care costs next year. Changes to Ohio State’s Dental Plan for 2016 can result in more coverage and less money out-of-pocket if your dentist is part of the Delta Dental PPO network.

There are two dental networks available through Ohio State’s Dental Plan: Delta Dental PPO and Delta Dental Premier. The Ohio State Student Dental Clinic is a Delta Dental PPO provider.

You can visit the Delta Dental website to see if your dentist participates in one of these networks. If your dentist participates in both networks you will receive Delta Dental PPO benefits which provide the highest level coverage.

For 2016, Ohio State has differentiated the benefit levels by network; and some benefits have been enhanced when using the Delta Dental PPO network:

  • The annual benefit maximum with a Delta Dental PPO provider will be $1,500, compared to $1,200 for Delta Dental Premier and Out-of-Network providers.
  • There is no annual deductible when using a Delta Dental PPO provider.
  • In addition to more significant network discounts that can help reduce out-of-pocket costs, the plan also provides for the highest level of benefit coverage through Delta Dental PPO.

Once you are a Delta Dental plan member, you can use the plan’s mobile app to check your coverage and claims details, view your ID card, and find a dentist. There is even a toothbrush timer to help with your daily oral health routine.

Don’t forget – Open Enrollment is Oct. 19-30. Use this time to evaluate your options and make any necessary plan elections.
