The Ohio State University reaches nearly 500,000 youth annually through more than 600 activities and programs in all of Ohio’s 88 counties. Throughout the past year, the Office of Human Resources has worked to formulate and approve a renewed policy regarding youth participation in University activities and programs. Ohio State’s goal is clear: to promote the safety and welfare of minors who participate in our activities and programs.
The renewed Activities and Programs with Minor Participants policy has been approved and will take effect on January 1, 2015. To support the protection of minors, this policy outlines what is required of faculty, staff, appointees, students, student employees, graduate associates and volunteers who work in activities and programs with minors, and informs individuals of their reporting obligations in instances of known or suspected abuse or neglect of minors.
