The Office of Human Resources offers video presentations, webinars, and in-person events to help you understand your health coverage and retirement benefit options. The health and retirement benefits Ohio State offers to eligible faculty and staff have a longstanding reputation for being exceptional. We hope these educational resources help you make the most of these benefits.

Webinars

The Office of Human Resources offers monthly webinars on health and wellness benefits and retirement options for new and newly eligible employees. Benefits consultants will compare key features of the plans and address issues you need to consider when making your decisions.

This 90 minute webinar  provides you with information that you need to successfully navigate your benefits choices as a new hire. You have 31 days from the effective date of your eligible appointment to enroll in health benefits. During the 31 day enrollment period, you may elect coverage in one of the several medical plans available, dental and vision coverage, dependent and health care flexible spending accounts, short-term disability, dependent group term life insurance, and voluntary group term life insurance coverage.

This online webinar will be presented live by HR benefits consultants and provides you with the opportunity to view it from any computer. You will NOT need to come to the Gateway Building to view the webinar. During these sessions, Benefits Consultants will compare key features of the medical plans and other health benefits, and will address issues you need to consider when making your decision.

This 90 minute webinar  will provide you with the information you need to make an informed choice regarding your retirement plan options as a new hire. You have 120 days from the effective date of your eligible appointment to choose a retirement program. During the 120 day enrollment period, you may elect to participate in the Ohio Alternative Retirement Plan (ARP), Ohio Public Employees Retirement System (OPERS) for staff, or State Teachers Retirement System of Ohio (STRS) for faculty.

The Office of Human Resources offers retirement choices forums to provide a high level summary of the plans available to new faculty and staff. During these sessions Benefits Consultants will compare key features of the ARP, and OPERS/STRS, and will address issues you need to consider when making your decision.
