Ohio State Listening Survey

The university is opening the Ohio State Listening Survey to collect feedback from faculty and staff April 6-24, 2026. The survey is an annual opportunity for campus faculty and staff to share their experiences at Ohio State and builds on the strong participation in the previous Listening Surveys.

Last year’s results informed leadership actions across the university, and continued participation in the Listening Survey helps build on this progress. Employees’ voices guide the actions Ohio State takes to advance our strategic aspiration to be a Workplace of Choice.

The survey collects perspectives and input from faculty and staff in the following areas:

  • Future vision
  • Engagement
  • Performance management
  • Community
  • Workplace well-being
  • Teamwork and collaboration
  • Growth and development
  • Change and innovation
  • Direct leader relationships
  • Recognition and reward

Ohio State has partnered with Perceptyx, an independent third-party survey research firm, to provide a confidential survey.

There are 25 questions total – 23 Likert-scale and two drop-down questions. The survey should take less than 5 minutes to complete.

Completing the survey

On April 6, all employees eligible to participate will receive a direct email from Perceptyx. Each email has a unique link to complete the survey.

If you cannot find the email with your unique link, access the survey through the Perceptyx website. When entering the survey, you will be asked for your Employee ID. You can find your Employee ID in Workday under your profile or the top number on your BuckID.

Who is included

The 2026 Listening Survey is for campus faculty and staff who started with Ohio State by Feb. 23, 2026. Individuals not included in this survey are students, graduate associates, intermittent employees, seasonal employees, non-employees, and anyone with a zero total FTE.

Ohio State Wexner Medical Center (inclusive of the College of Medicine, Office of Health Sciences, Comprehensive Cancer Center, Health System, and OSU-Physicians) employees can participate in the Buckeye Experience Survey April 6-24, 2026. Visit the Buckeye Experience Survey website for additional details.

Results and actions

Feedback from the Ohio State Listening Survey is used to make Ohio State a better place to work and learn.

After faculty and staff identified opportunities to improve workplace well-being, the university made it an institutional priority and reinstated Academic Winter Recess. Senior vice presidents and deans identified additional action steps in their areas.

View the full results from 2025 and 2024. Results for the 2026 Listening Survey will be shared with the campus community in Autumn 2026, and information from the survey will be used to inform action planning.

Confidentiality

This is a strictly confidential survey administered by Perceptyx. To ensure privacy, results will be deidentified by Perceptyx and only aggregated at the college and unit level.

Your link, Single Sign-On (SSO) or Employee ID will connect your input to your organization structure, but not to your personal identity. The data will not allow Ohio State to determine which employees have taken or not taken the survey and does not inform the university of survey results. This allows Perceptyx, a third-party vendor, to manage customized reminders and aggregate results based on things like college/unit, years of service, location, etc.

Leaders will not have access to individual responses. This includes your direct supervisor and department leader.
