Gain or Loss of Coverage

If you or your dependent has recently gained or lost other coverage such as health coverage or a Flexible Spending Account (FSA), you may be eligible to make changes to your benefits within 30 days, including the day of the event.

Manage Benefits in Workday

Benefits elections can be managed in Workday within 30-days of your life event. For details on how to elect or change benefits, review the Selecting and Managing Benefit Elections job aid in the Administrative Resource Center.

Medical, Dental, Vision Benefits

Whether you are adding or terminating coverage, you will need to change your elections in Workday within 30 days, including the day of the life event. We cannot process a future event. You must wait until the gain or loss of coverage occurs before changing your elections.

Documentation of the change in coverage for you and/or your covered dependents is required. Gain or Loss of coverage elections submitted without proper documentation will not be processed. This documentation is typically called a certificate of coverage, or it could be a letter from another insurance or employer. Documentation must include the name of the impacted participant and effective date coverage was gained or lost.

You may access a certificate of coverage for yourself or any dependents that are currently or were previously enrolled in medical coverage via the Luminare portal by selecting About Me – Documents.

If the certificate of coverage is not available on the Luminare portal or is not updated, please contact HR Connection to request an updated certificate of coverage.

Flexible Spending Account

You may elect to participate in or change the amount you contribute to your Health Care and/or Dependent Care Flexible Spending Account (FSA) by enrolling or changing elections within 30 days, including the day of the event.

A job change may qualify you for updating your FSA participation and contribution. Review the FSA Specific Plan Details document for other conditions in which you can change your FSA enrollment status. Documentation of the change in coverage for you and/or your covered dependents is required.

Newly elected balances are available for claims with dates of service on or after the event date.
