STRS “Beyond the Classroom”
A retirement education seminar led STRS representatives for STRS members who are five to 10 years from retirement.

“Beyond the Classroom” is for STRS members who are five to 10 years from retirement. This two-hour workshop explains how to calculate your final average salary, payment options for receiving STRS Ohio retirement benefits, how and when to purchase service credit, health care issues and funding.

TIME: 2:30-4:30 p.m.

STRS “Retirement Countdown”
A retirement education seminar led by STRS representatives for STRS members who are 12-18 months from retirement.

“Retirement Countdown” is for STRS members who are 12-18 months from retirement. STRS educators will provide a walk-through of the Service Retirement Application, and will conclude by giving an overview of what to expect during the retirement process and will address any questions you may submit during the presentation.

TIME: 1-2:30 p.m.

OPERS “Ready to Retire Pension and Health Care”
A retirement education seminar led by OPERS representatives for OPERS members within 5 years of retirement eligibility (Group A and B).

Ready to Retire Pension and Health Care” is for OPERS members within 5 years of retirement eligibility (Group A and B). The first hour covers getting ready to retire, and the second hour covers health care. This two-hour presentation is followed by an optional 30-minute Q&A session.

TIME: 9-11:00 a.m.

Paper and Bytes: Policies, Best Practices, and Resources for Managing Ohio State Records
Become more knowledgeable about university policies, legal requirements, and best practices concerning the retention, management and disposition of records in their care.

The Ohio State University, as a public institution, must comply with laws governing public records. Effective compliance can only be achieved through proper records management.  This 2-hour instructor-led workshop will help participants become more knowledgeable about policies, legal requirements and best practices concerning the retention, management and disposition of records in their care. Participants will also learn practical tips and techniques for managing email and organizing electronic records.

Paper and Bytes is provided in partnership by University Libraries and the Office of Human Resources.

This webinar provides employees with information needed to successfully navigate benefits choices as a new hire.

This 90-minute webinar  provides you with information that you need to successfully navigate your benefits choices as a new hire. You have 31 days from the effective date of your eligible appointment to enroll in health benefits. During the 31 day enrollment period, you may elect coverage in one of the several medical plans available, dental and vision coverage, dependent and health care flexible spending accounts, short-term disability, dependent group term life insurance, and voluntary group term life insurance coverage.

This online webinar will be presented live by HR benefits consultants and provides you with the opportunity to view it from any computer. You will NOT need to come to the Gateway Building to view the webinar.

During these sessions, Benefits Consultants will compare key features of the medical plans and other health benefits, and will address issues you need to consider when making your decision.

This session will not include information on retirement choices.

Disabilities Etiquette
This workshop will help participants gain a better understanding of the impact of attitudes about people with disabilities and the effect they can have on our relationship with each other.

This 90-minute instructor-led workshop will examine stereotypes associated with common disabilities and illustrate the participants’ emotional reactions to specific disabilities. Participants will gain a better understanding of the impact of attitudes about people with disabilities and the effect they can have on our relationship with each other. The training will conclude with tips on respectful etiquette and language in creating a comfortable work environment for all employees.

The enrollment window for dependent tuition assistance for the 2020 spring semester is November 11, 2019 - January 10, 2020. For dependent tuition assistance, applications must be submitted each term.

The Ohio State University offers eligible employees and their dependents the opportunity to advance their education at Ohio State. For dependent tuition assistance, applications must be submitted each term. Spring 2020 term enrollment window is November 11, 2019 – January 10, 2020.
