Learn foundational principles of supervision through the lens of college student employment.

This 2-hour instructor-led workshop covers foundational principles of supervision through the lens of college student employment. Through learning evidence-based practices, and sharing challenges and strategies with others, participants will walk away with practical solutions for supervising students in their own context. Learn to set reasonable yet challenging expectation, offer effective feedback and more.

Supervising Student Employees is provided in partnership by the Office of Student Life and the Office of Human Resources.

OPERS “Bridging the Gap to Financial Wellness”
A financial wellness workshop led by OPERS representatives. The goal of this workshop is to help you assess your financial wellness, review your current spending habits, and estimate your retirement income so you can identify the "gap" between what you will have in retirement and what you will need.

A retirement education seminar led by OPERS representatives for OPERS members who are more than five years from retirement (Groups B and C).

“Education Today for Retirement Tomorrow” is for OPERS members who are more than five years from retirement (Groups B and C). This presentation provides information and resources so you can take an active role in preparing for your retirement and make retirement decisions throughout your career. This is a one-hour presentation followed by an optional 30-minute Q&A session.

Retirement Choices Webinar
This webinar provides employees with the information needed to make an informed choice regarding retirement plan options as a new hire.

This 90-minute webinar will provide you with the information you need to make an informed choice regarding your retirement plan options as a new hire. You have 120 days from the effective date of your eligible appointment to choose a retirement program. During the 120 day enrollment period, you may elect to participate in the Ohio Alternative Retirement Plan (ARP), Ohio Public Employees Retirement System (OPERS) for staff, or State Teachers Retirement System of Ohio (STRS) for faculty.

The Office of Human Resources offers retirement choices forums to provide a high level summary of the plans available to new faculty and staff. During these sessions Benefits Consultants will compare key features of the ARP, and OPERS/STRS, and will address issues you need to consider when making your decision.

This 2-hour instructor-led workshop will provide participants with key legal and policy details, how to recognize sexual misconduct, how to file a complaint or make a report, support resources, and how to prevent sexual misconduct in the work and academic setting. If you prefer to take this training online register for the Understanding the Sexual Misconduct Policy online course offered by the Office of Human Resources.

Members of the university community have the right to be free from all forms of sexual misconduct which impede the realization of the university’s mission of distinction in education, scholarship, and service. All members of the university community are expected to conduct themselves in a manner that maintains an environment free from sexual misconduct.

A retirement education seminar led STRS representatives for STRS members who are five to 10 years from retirement.

“Beyond the Classroom” is for STRS members who are five to 10 years from retirement. This two-hour workshop explains how to calculate your final average salary, payment options for receiving STRS Ohio retirement benefits, how and when to purchase service credit, health care issues and funding.

A retirement education seminar led by STRS representatives for STRS members who are 12-18 months from retirement.

“Retirement Countdown” is for STRS members who are 12-18 months from retirement. STRS educators will provide a walk-through of the Service Retirement Application, and will conclude by giving an overview of what to expect during the retirement process and will address any questions you may submit during the presentation.

Paper and Bytes: Policies, Best Practices, and Resources for Managing Ohio State Records
Become more knowledgeable about university policies, legal requirements, and best practices concerning the retention, management and disposition of records in their care.

The Ohio State University, as a public institution, must comply with laws governing public records. Effective compliance can only be achieved through proper records management.  This 2-hour instructor-led workshop will help participants become more knowledgeable about policies, legal requirements and best practices concerning the retention, management and disposition of records in their care. Participants will also learn practical tips and techniques for managing email and organizing electronic records.

This workshop will help participants gain a better understanding of the impact of attitudes about people with disabilities and the effect they can have on our relationship with each other.

This 90-minute instructor-led workshop will examine stereotypes associated with common disabilities and illustrate the participants’ emotional reactions to specific disabilities. Participants will gain a better understanding of the impact of attitudes about people with disabilities and the effect they can have on our relationship with each other. The training will conclude with tips on respectful etiquette and language in creating a comfortable work environment for all employees.
