Working Through Difficult Conversations
This workshop will teach participants the tools and practice to help increase skills and comfort in engaging in difficult conversations.

Do you sometimes avoid difficult or challenging conversations? Is it hard to decide where to start? Do you have the same conversation more than once with the same person? This 3-hour instructor-led workshop provides tools and practice to help you increase your skill and comfort in engaging in difficult conversations. Learn how to prepare in advance, start the conversation effectively, and maintain a productive environment. We will also discuss handling conversations that become difficult in the moment. Video examples, discussion, and practice provide a rich and interactive environment.

Health and Welfare Benefits Webinar
This webinar provides employees with information needed to successfully navigate benefits choices as a new hire.

This 90-minute webinar  provides you with information that you need to successfully navigate your benefits choices as a new hire. You have 31 days from the effective date of your eligible appointment to enroll in health benefits. During the 31 day enrollment period, you may elect coverage in one of the several medical plans available, dental and vision coverage, dependent and health care flexible spending accounts, short-term disability, dependent group term life insurance, and voluntary group term life insurance coverage.

This online webinar will be presented live by HR benefits consultants and provides you with the opportunity to view it from any computer. You will NOT need to come to the Gateway Building to view the webinar.

During these sessions, Benefits Consultants will compare key features of the medical plans and other health benefits, and will address issues you need to consider when making your decision.

This session will not include information on retirement choices.

Retirement Choices Webinar
This webinar provides employees with the information needed to make an informed choice regarding retirement plan options as a new hire.

This 90-minute webinar will provide you with the information you need to make an informed choice regarding your retirement plan options as a new hire. You have 120 days from the effective date of your eligible appointment to choose a retirement program. During the 120 day enrollment period, you may elect to participate in the Ohio Alternative Retirement Plan (ARP), Ohio Public Employees Retirement System (OPERS) for staff, or State Teachers Retirement System of Ohio (STRS) for faculty.

The Office of Human Resources offers retirement choices forums to provide a high level summary of the plans available to new faculty and staff. During these sessions Benefits Consultants will compare key features of the ARP, and OPERS/STRS, and will address issues you need to consider when making your decision.

Spring Semester Enrollment Window Closes for Dependent Tuition Assistance
The enrollment window for dependent tuition assistance for the 2019 spring semester is November 12, 2018 - January 11, 2019. For dependent tuition assistance, applications must be submitted each term.

The Ohio State University offers eligible employees and their dependents the opportunity to advance their education at Ohio State. For dependent tuition assistance, applications must be submitted each term. Spring 2019 term enrollment window is November 12, 2018 – January 11, 2019.

2019 Distinguished Staff Award Nomination Deadline
Nominations for the 2019 Distinguished Staff Award will be accepted December 3, 2018 – January 18, 2019.

The Distinguished Staff Award annually honors twelve (12) individuals for their outstanding achievements, service, leadership and dedication to The Ohio State University. The Distinguished Staff Award is the highest honor bestowed upon staff at the university since its inception in 1984. Nominations for the Distinguished Staff Award will be accepted December 3, 2018 – January 18, 2019. Complete and submit the requested nomination materials to nominate a staff member. Nominations for the 2019 Distinguished Diversity Enhancement Award will be accepted December 3, 2018 – January 18, 2019.

The Office of Human Resources and the Senate Diversity Committee annually recognize diversity efforts at The Ohio State University. Faculty, staff, students, student organizations and alumni can nominate their colleagues to be selected as one of five recipients. Nominations for the Distinguished Diversity Enhancement Award will be accepted December 3, 2018 – January 18, 2019. This 2-hour instructor-led workshop will provide participants with key legal and policy details, how to recognize sexual misconduct, how to file a complaint or make a report, support resources, and how to prevent sexual misconduct in the work and academic setting. If you prefer to take this training online register for the Understanding the Sexual Misconduct Policy online course offered by the Office of Human Resources.

Members of the university community have the right to be free from all forms of sexual misconduct which impede the realization of the university’s mission of distinction in education, scholarship, and service. All members of the university community are expected to conduct themselves in a manner that maintains an environment free from sexual misconduct.
