This 90-minute webinar provides you with information that you need to successfully navigate your benefits choices as a new hire. You have 31 days from the effective date of your eligible appointment to enroll in health benefits. During the 31 day enrollment period, you may elect coverage in one of the several medical plans available, dental and vision coverage, dependent and health care flexible spending accounts, short-term disability, dependent group term life insurance, and voluntary group term life insurance coverage.
This online webinar will be presented live by HR benefits consultants and provides you with the opportunity to view it from any computer. You will NOT need to come to the Gateway Building to view the webinar.
During these sessions, Benefits Consultants will compare key features of the medical plans and other health benefits, and will address issues you need to consider when making your decision.
This session will not include information on retirement choices.

The Ohio State University, as a public institution, must comply with laws governing public records. Effective compliance can only be achieved through proper records management. This 2-hour instructor-led workshop will help participants become more knowledgeable about policies, legal requirements and best practices concerning the retention, management and disposition of records in their care. Participants will also learn practical tips and techniques for managing email and organizing electronic records.

You have 120 days from the effective date of your eligible appointment to choose a retirement program. During the 120 day enrollment period, you may elect to participate in the Ohio Alternative Retirement Plan (ARP), Ohio Public Employees Retirement System (OPERS) for staff, or State Teachers Retirement System of Ohio (STRS) for faculty.
The Office of Human Resources offers retirement choices forums to provide a high level summary of the plans available to new faculty and staff. During these sessions Benefits Consultants will compare key features of the ARP, and OPERS/STRS, and will address issues you need to consider when making your decision.

This 2-hour instructor-led workshop covers foundational principles of supervision through the lens of college student employment. Through learning evidence-based practices, and sharing challenges and strategies with others, participants will walk away with practical solutions for supervising students in their own context. Learn to set reasonable yet challenging expectation, offer effective feedback and more.
Supervising Student Employees is provided in partnership by the Office of Student Life and the Office of Human Resources.

This 4-hour in person workshop will help users learn useful techniques and features of the BuckIQ HR reports. As a prerequisite for this training, you should have access to the BuckIQ system.

Do you sometimes avoid difficult or challenging conversations? Is it hard to decide where to start? Do you have the same conversation more than once with the same person? This 3-hour instructor-led workshop provides tools and practice to help you increase your skill and comfort in engaging in difficult conversations. Learn how to prepare in advance, start the conversation effectively, and maintain a productive environment. We will also discuss handling conversations that become difficult in the moment. Video examples, discussion, and practice provide a rich and interactive environment.

Learn why creating a professional brand is important, and how to create a brand that goes beyond your strengths, skills and character to convey your leadership ability. This 2-hour instructor-led interactive workshop includes reflection on your personal presence, how you use your strengths in your role, how you engage others, and your outcomes and results. Use a Leadership Brand Worksheet to record your reflections, and then create a brief brand statement.
We will also consider attitudes or behaviors that may tarnish your brand. Leave with ideas to continue your branding effort after the workshop. This workshop is most effective if you attend with a colleague so you can share ideas on each other’s strengths and brand.
