Staff Appreciation Week
Staff Appreciation Week, the annual celebration of Ohio State staff members to recognize their contributions to the university, will be held July 23-27, 2018.

Staff Appreciation Week is an annual celebration of Ohio State staff members to recognize their contributions to the university. Throughout the week of July 23-27, 2018, several campus-wide events and activities will be planned for the thousands of Ohio State staff members to thank them for their dedication to advancing the university’s mission.

Staff Career Development Grant Application Deadline
Staff Career Development Grant applications will be accepted July 1-31.

The Staff Career Development Grant provides staff with an opportunity to further their growth and development. Eligible staff can apply for up to $1,250 for individuals, $1,750 for groups of 2-10 and $2,000 for groups of 11 or more towards professional development, education or training costs related to job and/or career goals. Applications will be accepted July 1-31.

OPERS Bridging the Gap to Financial Wellness
The workshop helps OPERS members gain a better understanding of personal finances and make sound financial decisions that can lead to a secure retirement in the future

This 1-hour in-person presentation followed by an optional 30-minute Q&A session will  provide OPERS members with hands-on, real life training so you can gain a better understanding of your personal finances and make sound financial decisions that can lead to a secure retirement in the future.

OPERS Ready to Retire Pension and Health Care
This workshop is for OPERS members in the Traditional Pension Plan who are within five years of retirement eligibility.

This 2.5-hour session is comprised of two back-to-back, one-hour presentations followed by an optional 30-minute Q&A session. This session is for OPERS members in the Traditional Pension Plan who are within five years of retirement eligibility (Groups A and B). During these presentations you will learn about the retirement application process and the tools and resources available to help you with your retirement decisions. You will also learn about important changes to Ohio retirement law and OPERS health care that may impact your retirement benefits.

Understanding the Sexual Misconduct Policy
This workshop provides participants with key legal and policy details, how to recognize sexual misconduct, how to file a complaint or make a report, support resources, and how to prevent sexual misconduct in the work and academic setting.

This 2-hour in-person workshop will provide participants with key legal and policy details, how to recognize sexual misconduct, how to file a complaint or make a report, support resources, and how to prevent sexual misconduct in the work and academic setting. If you prefer to take this training online register for the Understanding the Sexual Misconduct Policy online course offered by the Office of Human Resources.

Members of the university community have the right to be free from all forms of sexual misconduct which impede the realization of the university’s mission of distinction in education, scholarship, and service. All members of the university community are expected to conduct themselves in a manner that maintains an environment free from sexual misconduct.

This workshop helps participants gain a better understanding of the impact of attitudes about people with disabilities and the effect they can have on our relationship with each other.

This 90-minute instructor-led workshop will examine stereotypes associated with common disabilities and illustrate the participants’ emotional reactions to specific disabilities. Participants will gain a better understanding of the impact of attitudes about people with disabilities and the effect they can have on our relationship with each other. The training will conclude with tips on respectful etiquette and language in creating a comfortable work environment for all employees.

This 3-hour instructor-led workshop is for STRS members who are 5 to 10 years from retirement. This workshop details how to calculate your final average salary, payment options for receiving STRS Ohio retirement benefits, how and when to purchase service credit and health care issues and funding.

Attendees will receive a take-home workbook that includes a retirement planning case study and worksheets to assist with determining: estimated expenditures; value of current savings in retirement; and the amount of savings yet needed to reach retirement financial goals.

STRS Retirement Countdown
If you’re 12 to 18 months from retirement and ready for the "nuts and bolts" of the retirement process, don’t miss this session.

Retirement Countdown will walk you through the Service Retirement Application, including: plan of payment options, designation of single or multiple beneficiaries and enrollment in the STRS Ohio Health Care Program. We’ll conclude by giving you an overview of what to expect during the retirement process and will address any questions you may submit during the presentation.

All participants receive a retirement booklet that highlights the key steps in the retirement process month-by-month.

The Distinguished Staff Award is the highest honor bestowed upon staff at the university since its inception in 1984.
