The Distinguished Staff Award annually honors staff members for their outstanding achievements, service, leadership and dedication to Ohio State, as well as their demonstration of the university’s shared values. The Distinguished Staff Award is the highest honor bestowed upon staff at the university since its inception in 1984.
Twelve individuals are chosen to receive a $1,500 cash award and plaque.
Nominations for the Distinguished Staff Awards are accepted annually. The next nomination period is Dec. 8, 2025, until Jan. 26, 2026, at 5 p.m.

The Leadership Series is a monthly leader development program for organizational leaders at Ohio State, sponsored by Human Resources. Organizational leaders are those who lead other people leaders, departments, or groups of departments.
A series of sessions is offered in autumn, spring, and summer semesters. In each semester, you can attend 2 or 3 virtual sessions, followed by 1 in-person session.
- Each virtual session will introduce leadership and organizational concepts from a contemporary book. Participants will engage in discussion and have an opportunity to build and strengthen relationships with fellow leaders.
- Each in-person session will recap the previous virtual sessions and focus on reflection, dialogue, and application of concepts within a community of leaders. Participants are invited to bring their own lunch.
The Leadership Series is optional and there are no pre-requisites for participation. Leaders can attend one, some, or all of the virtual and in-person sessions.
The Spring 2026 series is based on the book “The New Emotional Intelligence” by Travis Bradberry.

You’ll learn strategies to build team cohesion, including how to apply Tuckman’s model of group development and foster psychological safety. Employees have until April 15, 2026 to submit a claim for eligible expenses incurred from January 1 – March 31, 2026 to HealthEquity. All requests for reimbursement must be received by HealthEquity no later than April 15, 2026. Unused funds do not roll over to the following quarter.
