2025 Benefits Open Enrollment for Graduate Associates
All student employees are required to have health insurance. As a graduate associate, you have several options for coverage:
- Student Health Insurance
- The Ohio State University Faculty and Staff Health Plan
- A source outside of the university
Open Enrollment for 2025 benefits is November 1-15, 2024, for Graduate Associates who select the Faculty and Staff Health Plan. This coverage will be effective January 1, 2025, and you must be eligible as of that date. This coverage is for medical and prescription drug only. It does not include dental or vision benefits.
If you are currently enrolled in student health insurance and continue to be eligible during spring semester, that coverage will be effective through August 18, 2025. Enrolling in both student health insurance and the Faculty and Staff Health Plans will result in you paying for both plans.

You are eligible for coverage in the University’s Faculty and Staff Health Plans as long as you remain employed in an eligible position. Your coverage will remain effective through the end of the month that you last work or hold an eligible appointment.
