Ohio State uses job family, along with percentage full-time equivalency (FTE) and employee type (Regular, Term, Temporary, Seasonal and Intermittent) to define benefits eligibility and premium rates. If you are a full-time regular, term or seasonal employee (75 – 100% FTE), your compensation tier is determined by your base pay at the time you become eligible for medical benefits.
Your compensation tier for future plan years will be determined annually by combining your base pay as of October 1 with any additional pay earned in the prior 12 months. Once your compensation tier is established each year prior to Open Enrollment, it will not be adjusted until the following year. Your monthly premium contributions will remain the same throughout the year, even if your base pay changes, you earn additional pay or you experience job changes that affect your compensation during the prior 12 months.
