Webinars
The Office of Human Resources offers webinars on health and wellness benefits and retirement options for new and newly eligible employees. Benefits consultants will compare key features of the plans and address issues you need to consider when making your decisions.
Attend this webinar to get the information you need to make informed decisions regarding retirement, health and welfare options as a new hire. During the two-and-a-half-hour session, members of the Human Resources team will discuss what employees need to do to select the best options for them by the new employee deadlines. Part 1: Health and Welfare (60 minutes)
You have 30 days including the effective date of your eligible appointment to enroll in health benefits. During the 30-day enrollment period, you may elect coverage in one of the several medical plans available, dental and vision coverage, dependent and health care flexible spending accounts, short-term disability, and voluntary group term life insurance coverage.
During these sessions, HR benefits analysts will compare key features of the medical plans and other health benefits and will address issues you need to consider when making your decision. A Workday benefit enrollment demonstration will also be included in the presentation.
Part 2: Retirement (60 minutes)
You have 120 days including the effective date of your eligible appointment to choose a retirement program. During the 120-day enrollment period, you may elect to participate in the Ohio Alternative Retirement Plan (ARP) or the State System, Ohio Public Employees Retirement System (OPERS) for staff, and State Teachers Retirement System (STRS) for faculty.
HR also offers additional retirement choices forums to provide a summary of the plans available to new faculty and staff. During these sessions, HR benefit analysts will compare key features of the ARP and OPERS/STRS, and will address issues you need to consider when making your decision. Part 3: Tuition Assistance and Additional Benefits (30 minutes)
The final section of the presentation will provide you with information that you need to understand the Faculty and Staff Tuition Assistance benefits as well as the Dependent Tuition Assistance benefit. HR benefit analysts will also review additional benefits that Ohio State offers, including, the Lifestyle Spending Account, Employee Assistance Program and more.
Prospective parents can gain valuable insights and practical tips during an employee webinar about leaves of absence and benefits related to birth and adoption. This comprehensive webinar offered by the Human Resources benefits team is at various times throughout the year. Discover how to navigate benefits, leaves of absence, paid time off, and the Buckeye Baby program. Get your questions answered by our knowledgeable HR benefits analysts and Buckeye Baby team during the Q&A session that follows the presentation.

This 1-hour webinar is brought to you by Ohio State’s Human Resources Benefits department. The intended audience is faculty and staff within 12 months of retiring or up to 5 years from their anticipated retirement date. This session will provide faculty and staff an overview of considerations for planning a retirement from Ohio State. Followed by additional time (up to 30 minutes) for a question-and-answer session will follow the presentation but please be aware we are unable to provide individualized retirement or investment advice.
During this session, HR benefits analysts and individuals from the retirement team will address issues you need to consider when retiring from Ohio State.
To get the best experience, consider reviewing your annual retirement statements from OPERS, STRS, and/or social security.

This 1-hour webinar provides you with information that you need to understand Ohio State tuition assistance benefits for both the Faculty and Staff Tuition benefit and the Dependent Tuition Assistance benefit. During this session, HR benefits analysts will review the tuition benefits and possible taxation implications, and the tuition benefits election deadlines. Also the benefits analysts will review the enrollment steps in Workday for both the Faculty and Staff Tuition and Dependent Tuition Assistance benefits. Time is allotted for Questions & Answers.
