Annual Women’s Reception: Do Babies Matter in Academia
The career aspirations and trajectories of men and women PhDs diverge strongly in academic institutions, with men over-represented in the professoriate and women over-represented in non-tenure-track teaching, administrative, and support positions. Mary Ann Mason's research links those differing trajectories to family constraints, and suggests ways that institutions of higher learning can evolve to provide satisfying work opportunities for everyone. Co-sponsored by Comprehensive Equity at Ohio State (Project CEOS), The Women's Place, Office of Human Resource, Work Life and the President's Council on Women.

Care Navigation: Caring for Our Elders at Home
Most of us live in our homes and in the community throughout our lifetimes. In fact, only about 15% of those 85+ ever live in a care facility such as a nursing home or assisted living. That means a significant majority of those older adults living in their communities depend on family, friends and neighbors for supportive assistance. Providing caregiving support for a loved one requires knowledge and planning in order to balance all of life's demands. Knowledge is power. This session will help caregivers gain insight into the helpful community-based services.
