Distinguished Diversity Enhancement Award 2010

The University Senate Committee on Diversity and the Office of Human Resources are pleased to announce the annual Distinguished Diversity Enhancement Awards. This annual awards program is designed to recognize units or individuals that have demonstrated a significant commitment to enhancing diversity at the Ohio State University and to exceeding expectations in implementing the Diversity Action Plan.
Criteria
Submit a letter of nomination that addresses how the nominee has demonstrated a significant commitment to enhancing diversity through one or more of the following:
- Description of accomplishments, leadership, and service in support of diversity enhancement
- Description of achievement in creating a supportive environment
- Description of achievement in recruiting and retaining diverse groups to faculty, staff and administrative positions
- Description of achievement in recruiting, retaining, and graduating diverse groups of students
Eligibility
Award nominees can be academic or academic support units (or teams within a unit), campus organizations, students, alumni, faculty or staff that have implemented policies, procedures, and/or programs to enhance diversity on the basis of color, race, creed, religion, sexual orientation, national origin, sex, age, disability, veteran or military service status, gender identity, economic status, political belief, marital status or social background.
Award
Up to five recipients will be honored at a ceremony, where they will receive a plaque and a $1200 honorarium.
Nomination
Nominations must include the following:
- A completed nomination form found in the Award Brochure/Application Form.
- A nominating statement citing specific accomplishments and services of the nominee (3 pages maximum).
- No more than 5 letters of support that represent the diverse group of customers/colleagues who have personal knowledge of and who have benefited from the nominee's services. You may also include other supporting material such as curriculum vitae or resumes, newspaper articles to support the nomination. (6 pages maximum)
- The entire packet must not exceed 10 pages, including the nomination form.
- Submit one copy of all information to the Office of Human Resources or diversityaward@hr.osu.edu .

The Committee on Diversity strongly encourages the nomination of deserving students. Nomination packets should describe creative models, strategies, or best practices and why it should be considered a best practice. Please specify sustained and recent contributions. Documentation of data and success rates should also be included. Please provide no more than five letters of support for this nomination. Other supporting material such as curriculum vitae or resumes (individual nominations only), and newspaper articles can be included.
