If I am traveling and need to go to an emergency room, what should I do?
Emergency room visits are covered by your insurance whether you are in or out of network. It is understood that you will visit the nearest available hospital emergency room.
If I am traveling outside of Ohio or the United States and need medical attention, what should I do?
Please share your GlobalCare card and your NGS American medical and prescription drug card with providers outside of Ohio. They will be able to preauthorize expenses.
If you are traveling outside of Ohio or the United States, call the appropriate number on your GlobalCare card and ask for assistance in locating a doctor.
How can I get a GlobalCare card?
You can print a GlobalCare card by visiting hr.osu.edu/benefits/hb_globalcare, or contact our office at (614) 292-1050 or 1-800-678-6010.
If I am traveling and need to visit an Urgent Care facility, what should I do?
If you are traveling within Ohio, access the Managed Health Care System (MHCS) web site at osumhcs.com and search for a network provider. If you don’t have computer access, call MHCS at 1-800-678-6269, Monday through Friday, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
