Benefits Open Enrollment: Oct. 26–Nov. 6
What’s your plan? Changes Effective Jan. 1, 2010
The Open Enrollment period for benefit changes will begin October 26 and end November 6. During this time, eligible faculty and staff will have the opportunity to make benefit elections or changes to their medical, dental, and vision coverage. If you would like to participate in a Dependent Care or Health Care Flexible Spending Account (FSA) during the 2010 plan year, you must enroll or re-enroll during Open Enrollment.
Eligible faculty and staff should look for a booklet from the Office of Human Resources at their home address in October. It will provide a summary of the changes to help you choose your benefits. You can also learn about Open Enrollment changes by attending a forum. Advance registration for the forums is required at hr.osu.edu/oe.
All choices made during Open Enrollment will be effective January 1–December 31, 2010. You will not have another opportunity to enroll for benefits or make changes to your elections in 2010 unless you have a qualifying life event, such as marriage or the birth or adoption of a child.
Dependents who are enrolled in your medical, dental, and vision plans should also be reviewed during this time. This is an opportunity to ensure that they meet the eligibility requirements of a dependent, which can be found on our web site hr.osu.edu/benefits/hb_dependentcertification. There will be a separate certification process that will occur in winter 2010 for all faculty and staff who have dependents enrolled in a university medical plan. Please thoroughly read the Open Enrollment brochure for more information.
