President Gee Signs 5-Star Statement of Support

President Gee and groupOn December 14, 2007, Dr. E. Gordon Gee, President of The Ohio State University, signed the 5-Star Statement of Support for the Guard and Reserve. Ohio State currently has more than 100 employees serving in the National Guard or Reserve. Many of these employees have recently returned from active military service, currently are deployed to support worldwide military operations, or are preparing to deploy in the future. These patriotic men and women serve voluntarily in an honorable and vital profession that trains them to respond to their community and country in the time of need.

As an employer, we pledge that:

1. Employment will not be denied because of service in the Guard or Reserve.

2. Employees’ job and career opportunities will not be limited or reduced because of service in the Guard or Reserve.

3. Employees will be granted leaves of absence for military service in the Guard or Reserve, consistent with existing laws, without sacrifice of vacation.

4. This agreement and its resultant policies will be made known throughout our organization.
