Number of Lactation Rooms Expand Campus-Wide

Image of a lactation roomCurrently, there are 17 lactation spaces on Ohio State’s Columbus campus. Recently, the Recreation and Physical Activity Center (RPAC) revamped its room to include a sink, hospital grade breast pump, counter space, comfortable reclining chair, reading material, CD player, and CDs. These enhancements ensure that mothers who choose to continue breastfeeding their baby after returning to work can do so in a calm, private, and comfortable space. The lactation room serves faculty, staff, students, and RPAC visitors.

The work life room in the Longaberger Alumni House (LAH) can be used for a variety of reasons, including serving as a lactation room for faculty, staff, and students as well as community members who come to LAH for conferences and meetings.

“We are so happy to have the opportunity to serve the university and the public at large and provide a quiet, private, and comfortable space for women to pump,” said Jacky Bennett, the Alumni Association’s director of Conference and Facility Operations. (This room does not come with a breast pump, so women will need to bring their own.)
