Glacier Enrollment for Non-U.S. Citizens and/or Non-U.S. Permanent Resident Aliens

To remain compliant with Internal Revenue Service (IRS) regulations regarding taxation and reporting of Foreign National Residents who are paid by the university, the Office of Human Resources (OHR) Payroll Services and the University Controller have purchased an Online Tax Compliance System called Glacier.

Glacier is a web-based computer program that provides a “beginning to end” tax compliance solution by collecting all the necessary and relevant information for Foreign Nationals working for Ohio State. The program will:

  • Make tax residency, withholding, and income tax treaty determinations
  • Manage appropriate paperwork
  • Maintain data
  • File appropriate reporting statements with the IRS

Any changes to a Foreign National Resident’s visa, work authorization, Social Security number, and/or address must also be updated in the Glacier System.

All Foreign National Residents who have not received Glacier enrollment information should contact the OHR Tax Office at taxoffice@hr.osu.edu or (614) 292-2521. Additional information about Glacier can be found at hr.osu.edu/payroll/tax.
