Final OPERS Contribution Increase Effective January 1
Effective January 1, employee and university contribution rates to the Ohio Public Employees Retirement System (OPERS) and Alternative Retirement Plan (ARP) increased. Employee contribution rates are now 10 percent and university contribution rates are 14 percent. Staff members who contribute to OPERS-Law Enforcement are not affected by this change as they already contribute the maximum amount by law.
This is the last increase in the scheduled changes to the contribution rates. These rate increases began in 2005, increasing the employee contribution rate by a half percent each year. The university contribution rate also increased incrementally during each of the four years.
