Culture Shaping and Life Effectiveness (2-day commitment)

At Ohio State, President Gee is committed to Creating "One University", with an emphasis on a high-performance culture. In this two-day interactive retreat, participants will actively engage in exercises, reflection, and dialogue to learn how they can play a role in building the desired culture, as well as strategies for increasing their individual effectiveness. It is designed for any faculty or staff member who is not scheduled to attend a retreat with their department or unit. Registration requires a commitment to attend both consecutive days of the retreat. Lunch is on your own.

Health & Wellness Benefit Choices Forum

You have 31 days from the effective date of your eligible appointment to enroll in health benefits. During the 31-day enrollment period, you may elect coverage in one of the several medical plans available, dental and vision coverage, dependent and health care flexible spending accounts, short-term disability, dependent group term life insurance, and voluntary group term life insurance coverage. This session will not include information on retirement choices. For a list of retirement choices sessions go to hr.osu.edu/benefits/eb_benefitforums.

The Office of Human Resources offers health benefits forums to help you make these choices. During these sessions Benefits Consultants will compare key features of the medical plans and other health benefits, and will address issues you need to consider when making your decision.

This highly interactive training includes activities that will help participants:
-Understand the importance of recognizing and celebrating our similarities and differences
-Identify the information and misinformation that we have learned about other groups
-Identify and express pride in the group(s) to which we belong
-Recognize the internalized negative feelings and behaviors that we direct towards members of our own groups
-Learn how groups, other than our own, experience mistreatment
-Learn about the personal impact of specific incidents of discrimination
-Learn concrete skills for shifting attitudes and effectively responding to prejudicial comments, jokes and behaviors

The Financial Independence and Security seminar was developed specifically for women who may be concerned about obtaining and maintaining their financial independence and security. It educates women on their current financial state and identifies some of the important issues they are most concerned about-guarding against risk and preserving their assets. The seminar addresses issues for all women-single, divorced, married or widowed-at various stages of their lives.
