Program Communications

Program Communications Image

Communication with our families happens on many levels:
Classroom | Program-Wide | Phone | Email

Classroom

At the classroom level, the teaching staff is the primary resource for information about your child’s daily activities, growth, and development. Daily schedules and weekly lesson plans provide families with information about classroom routines and curriculum. Semi-annual Parent-Teacher conferences are opportunities to learn about your child as an individual while quarterly room meetings are held to share information and activities of the classroom community.

Program-Wide

At the program-wide level, family mail and information is distributed via email and hard copy. Each family has a mailbox located near their child’s classroom door and all families who provide us with an email address are included on our distribution list. The Child Care Program’s newsletter, community connection, is published monthly to share information, answer questions, and recognize the contributions of our program staff and families. Family Rosters are available each fall and list the names of all program families who have indicated inclusion at the time of their child’s enrollment. Both program facilities feature dry erase boards at the building entrances. These boards are used to share current events, news, and to provide notice when electronic communications have been sent.

Phone

You are always welcome to telephone the Child Care Program during the day or evening with your questions or to ask how your child is doing. All the classrooms in the Buckeye Village facility, the infant rooms in the Ackerman Road facility, and our kindergarten classroom have telephones. All other classrooms have intercoms. The staff at the front desk will be glad to connect you with your child’s classroom or to pass along messages to and from the teaching staff.

Email

In addition, all classrooms have email. Keep in mind, email is typically checked each morning and thereafter only sporadically throughout the day. Email addresses are based on the classroom number and have the following format:

Ackerman Road facility: [roomnumber]@hr.osu.edu; Example: A2@hr.osu.edu
Buckeye Village facility: rm[roomnumber]@hr.osu.edu; Example: rm165@hr.osu.edu
