Group Term Life Insurance (GTLI) Ohio State provides Group Term Life Insurance for eligible employees. Did you know it may pay an early benefit if you become terminally ill?

Are my dependents, spouse, or partner eligible for this benefit? This benefit is available for eligible Ohio State employees only. How/when can I sign up? You are automatically enrolled in GTLI if you are eligible. Will this affect my taxes? Under Internal Revenue Service (IRS) regulations, you may be charged income tax on the value of life insurance benefits that exceed $50,000. You can waive all life insurance coverage above $50,000 by completing a Waiver of Entitlement form. Consult your tax advisor for more information. When can I change my beneficiary? You can change your beneficiary(ies) anytime by completing the Group Term Life Insurance Change of Beneficiary form. Who do I contact about claims? Have there been any recent changes to this benefit? No. What would cause this benefit coverage to end? Enrollment will cease upon transfer to an ineligible appointment, reduction in percentage of appointment, termination of employment, or retirement.
