Benefit Forums

Human Resources offers a variety of benefit forums designed to provide information on specific benefits and access to benefit consultants to get your individual questions answered.

RETIREMENT PROGRAM FORUMS

HEALTH BENEFIT FORUMS
You have 31 days from the effective date of your eligible appointment to make health benefit elections. During the 31-day enrollment period, you may elect coverage in one of the several medical plans available, dental and vision coverage, dependent and health care flexible spending accounts, short-term disability, dependent group term life insurance, and voluntary group term life insurance coverage.

The Office of Human Resources offers health benefit forums to help you make these decisions. During these sessions Benefits Consultants will compare key features of the benefit plans, and will address issues you need to consider when making your decision.

RETIREMENT PROGRAM FORUMS
You have 120 days from the effective date of your eligible appointment to choose a retirement program. During the 120-day enrollment period, you may elect to participate in the Ohio Alternative Retirement Plan (ARP), Ohio Public Employees Retirement System (OPERS) for staff, or State Teachers Retirement System of Ohio (STRS) for faculty.

The Office of Human Resources offers retirement planning forums to help you make this decision. During these sessions Benefits Consultants will compare key features of the ARP and OPERS/STRS, and will address issues you need to consider when making your decision.

Staff who are unable to attend, may use the free OPERS webinar to learn about the three retirement plans it offers. You may sign up and participate in a session at a computer and type in or ask questions via the phone. To register go to opers.org/seminars/members/web-howtoselect.shtml.
