Long-Term Disability

LTD benefits are extended by the university to provide income protection after a 90-day waiting period when your extended disability prevents you from working. If you have been off work due to an injury or illness, contact the Office of Human Resources, Integrated Disability.

Are my dependents, spouse, or partner eligible for this benefit?

This benefit is available for eligible Ohio State employees only.
 

How/when can I sign up?

The university pays 100% of the premiums, so there is no direct contribution by you.
 

Will this affect my taxes?

The LTD benefits, when received, may be taxable - consult your tax advisor.
 

When can I change my benefit elections?

You are automatically enrolled in LTD upon eligibility.
 

Who do I contact about claims?

Contact Integrated Disability for assistance with coordinating your disability benefits.
 

Have there been any recent changes to this benefit?

No.
 

What would cause this benefit coverage to end?

Your disability benefits terminate upon transfer into an ineligible position or if your university employment ends. You may be eligible to continue coverage under an individual policy; you must submit the Long-Term Disability (LTD) Conversion Application Form and payment directly to the Disability Plan carrier.
 

What happens to this benefit when I leave OSU?

Your disability benefits are immediately terminated when your university employment ends. You may be eligible to continue coverage under an individual policy; you must submit the Long-Term Disability (LTD) Conversion Application Form and payment directly to the Disability Plan carrier.
